December 10, 2005 – A baby dolphin caught in a crab trap is rescued, beginning a series of events that has become one of the most inspiring stories of our generation. Travel with us behind the scenes of Winter’s amazing true story. See footage of the actual rescue, and follow her through the trials of losing her tail, learning to swim without a tail, and the miracle of swimming again with her new prosthetic tail. Learn how the tail research is now helping human amputees. Hear from the real-life Clearwater Marine Aquarium team, and experience the joy of children and wounded soldiers who have found her to be a life-changing role model. This real life story is hosted by Cozi Zuehlsdorff, "Hazel" in Dolphin Tale.

Dolphins Rule!

Too bad humans don't always do as well as our marine friends! This item is one to recommend to children and young adults of the next generation - perhaps even required in the classroom! -- certainly beats a lot of what students are being given!

A wonderful complement to A Dolphin's Tale

After we watched the fictionalized film version _Dolphin Tale_ with our 7-year-olds, we purchased this so they could see how Winter's story really happened. While the pacing of the documentary was sometimes slow, it was fascinating to see the real people who were involved in her rescue, and the real people who have been inspired and helped by her story. The experiences of real-life children and soldiers who see themselves and their own potential in Winter and all she has overcome were very touching--as was the story of Levi, the autistic boy who identified with Sawyer in _Dolphin Tale_. I highly recommend this documentary to any parent whose children loved the Warner Brothers film. Comparing and contrasting is a good exercise, and Winter's real influence is worth knowing about. (Also, once they know what real-life Abby Stone looks like, it will be interesting for them to see her in the background of _Dolphin Tale_ scenes featuring her counterpart Phoebe!)
